Long ago, before the landscape of America became defined by shopping malls and before holiday shopping was conducted in clicks and taps, there was music. Christmas music. Silent nights and merry gentlemen, God rest them. But times change, and with this record I embrace that change with a reharmonization of christmas standards. The album is a "Bowie Balance" of instrumentals and Lyrics. Neither take lead. Instead there is a bit of a waltz between Vocals (both human and vocoder), NASA transmissions as a humbling reminder of our humanity and our place in the universe, shredding keyboard solos and groove. There is a bit of Meters, Tom Waits, Elvis and Early Music and Bel Canto performance throughout. But of course... these are all my influences. And let’s face it; it’s pretty easy to picture Santa with a flask! My aural mood board was "NASA, Electronica, Donald Fagan, Xmas, austereness, reharmonization, bright shiny things, classical, red satin and angelic misbehavior" Victoria's Tracks were from an earlier Holiday Inspired project and I am glad they finally found a home.
