简介
Track one: Sweet Nothings, by Emily Lanxner aka Camomilla. Camomilla on steeldrums and keyboard; with flutist Wendy Lanxner; Marcus Copening, drums, Jon Hart, bass. Contemplative Jazz. Track two: Anomali, by Camomilla. Steeldrums, percussion, keyboard, drum programming and spoken word by Camomilla, with melodic vocals by Jody Albright and Ajah Leas. Background shouts: Rose Ciaparra and Phoebe Hanson. Jungle-y spoken word hip-hop with outer space element. Track three: Spanish Ska, by Camomilla. Steeldrums and percussion, Camomilla; Lloyd Knibb, drums. Although the title says "ska", this is more akin to rock-steady. Featuring Skatalites drummer and living legend, Lloyd Knibb, - arguably the grandfather/inventor of reggae drumming. The bass line, played on steeldrums, was drawn from scat-vocal simulated ska bass ramblings by Lloyd Knibb (refer to track eight, Spanish Ska Dub, for a taste of the bass vocal tracks). Track four: And I Love Her, by Lennon/ McArtney. Steeldrums, percussion and drums by PanAshe Steelband. Recorded live on August 11, 2001. Musicians: Camomilla, Ruth Blackwell, Jessamine Levine, Lydia Mackey, Laura Rappold, Katie Trautz, Christiana Usenza, David Lanxner, Phil Carr. Yard-style arrangement of the Beatles favorite, played by most of the original members of PanAshe Steelband. Track five: Arkadia, by John LaRouche, who is featured on chromatic harmonica. With Camomilla on the double-tenor steeldrums; Ian Alexis, guitar; Robinson Morse, bass; Phil Carr, drums. Brazilian jazz surfer lounge feel. Track six: Loon. Conducted by Gabe Halberg and Camomilla. Double-tenor steeldrums by Camomilla, with Gabe Halberg, tabla drums; Lydia Mackey, oboe; Indigo Ruth-Davis, cello. Subtle dramas of loons and lake life reflected in this watery improvisational splash of colors. Track seven: Wild World, by Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens). Steeldrums, Camomilla; Drums, timbales Phil Carr; Nyabingi-Congito, Lloyd Knibb. Percussion-rich steelband arrangement of the Cat Stevens classic, with a road-march feel. Track eight: Spanish Ska Dub. by Camomilla, with Dub-Master, Bennett Shapiro. Drums and bass vocals by Lloyd Knibb. Background vocals, Rose Ciaparra, Phoebe Hanson, Camomilla. Lloyd Knibb, internationally acclaimed reggae and ska drummer, branches out into reggae dub vocals, sung in basso-profundo range. Originally intended as inspiration for the Spanish Ska bass line, these bass vocals just needed to break loose!
