The origins of this song are also unknown, but date to the era of slavery in the U.S. There are several interpretations, but in general the lyrics refer to uprooting or separation of a child from their parents, either in a literal or metaphorical sense. T. Sharon, vocals. St. James Infirmary was made famous by Louis Armstrong's recording in 1928; but the song is much older and dates back to at least the 1700's. The present version is related to Louis Armstrong's version, but we have again allowed it to evolve, using fourths voicings in the chords, and a latin rhythm. Bill Freed and T. Sharon, vocals.
