简介
This is the debut album of up and coming jazz/fusion guitarist, Danny Brymer released in 2012 on Aleatorik Records. This diverse collection of compositions explores a myriad of styles, tones, and textures in this ambitious effort. From the funk/rock stomp of "Great Scott" to the Latin tinged fusion ride, "Colombia Supremo" to the lush, hauntingly evocative "World Unfolds," Twist Resolution offers the listener something fresh and original with the harmonic and melodic depth of the compositions and flashy at times, yet tasteful guitar playing and improvisations. MUZIK REVIEWS.COM Danny Brymer is the type of artist who makes paying attention to the small or independent markets worth it, because he is a true talent. When it comes to artistic expression and musical capabilities, Brymer is a man to take a note from. This jazz fusion guitarist grew up in a musical family in the city of New Braunfels, Texas. His influences span genres and include such artists from Van Halen and David Gilmour to Miles Davis and John Coltrane to Bach and Chopin. The intricacy of his music is something to wonder over and his debut album Twist Resolution will simply blow you away. Twist Resolution astonishes from the get-go. One listen to “Great Scott” and the magic of this album can be felt. I knew that I was in for a terrific listen. It is a musical wonderland that shows all the different emotional strings Brymer can pull on with his music. The touches of rock, psychedelic, and funk blend seamlessly to produce a heavenly musical experience. “Lydia’s Garden” is another ambitious piece with its stellar guitar action throughout that ties everything together. “Fate of the Wind” is a softer and more introspective song. The slower pace is a nice break from the demanding ones of the previous songs. It is refreshing like a cool breeze thanks in part to the jazz aspect taking precedent here. The title track “Twist Resolution” heats up at the two minute mark and dazzles its way to the end. The atmospheric “Austin Lights” is a cool jazzy song that I can imagine it being in a noir type of movie. I am transported to a world of hard-boiled detectives, femme fatales, and seedy bars that have a Brymer soundtrack setting the mood. The romantic “Heidi Lynn” is a slow dance type of song that makes one want to grab someone and pull them close. It is an emotionally stirring piece that shows the tender side of his music. “Snow Monster Groove” hits you like a burst of hot air coming out of an oven. It is an energetic song with a sweet groove to it. The album is led out with “Columbia Supermo,” “Tangent of Realization,” and “World Unfolds.” “Columbia Supermo” sports a lighter atmosphere than most of the songs. Overall, it has a more casual atmosphere and somber pace. It is also propped up by the piano and a wicked drum display. The majestic quality of “Tangent of Realization” is something to behold. It is a reminder of the skill and complexity that makes this album such a joy to listen to. “Worlds Unfold” is a poignant ending for Twist Revolution. Danny Brymer’s Twist Resolution is so good to the point of almost absurdity. Its complexity demands repeated listens that get better and more rewarding with each play through. This is one debut album that is damn near impossible not to love. If this is what he is starting with, I cannot wait to hear what he can come up with next. This album is so superb that it makes me want to see him live to witness the magic in person. Key Tracks: ALL Brian McKinnon – Sr. MuzikReviews.com Staff January 31, 2013
