ELSEE wishes she had been alive in the 1960s to experience the dawning of classic rock first-hand. Instead, her formative years occurred in the decade known best for the Backstreet Boys, Aqua, and the Spice Girls. Infatuated with the grit and glamour surrounding the glory days of rock and roll, she began songwriting with the hope that one day her songs would hold a place amongst the hits she deemed legendary. Born and raised in Orillia, Ontario, Lauren "ELSEE" Campbell packed up her belongings in 2015 and headed to Hamilton, intrigued by the city's burgeoning arts community. With a background in music spanning 12 years, and almost as many genres, she has crafted a sound that effortlessly blends pop with elements of soft rock, soul and blues. Influenced by the penned works of Goffin/King and Fleetwood Mac, as well as the musical stylings of Janis Joplin, HAIM, and Tracy Chapman, ELSEE's uniqueness culminates in an eclectic presence that can be both heard and seen. Her affinity for nostalgia and stark contrasts, are endless sources of inspiration and they find a place nestled amongst the familiar themes of love and communication in her music. In September 2016, she released the single "Eggshells" and is currently in the process of recording her debut EP, due out in January 2017.
