DARNELL MILLER LEGACY Darnell has been a country music artist since he was 17 years of age, and recorded his first sessions for Starday Records in Nashville, but more success was his songs on Challenge Records. One of his releases – a single called, “Hinges on the Door,” brought him a pick hit from Billboard magazine – and put Darnell’s voice on radio stations all over America. Word of Darnell’s music got around in Nashville, and he was visited by RCA’s Chet Atkins and Decca’s Owen Bradley. Atkins and Bradley liked what they heard. Owen Bradley said that Darnell was the “best damn hillbilly singer that he ever heard” but passed on him because Decca had a deal with the Grand Ole Opry and couldn’t sign any traditional acts that weren’t Opry members at that time. A guest spot on the famous Wheeling Jamboree USA turned into a long standing gig for Darnell. As audiences reacted to his pure country sound and heartfelt deliveries, it kept him coming back to the stage in Wheeling as a regular performer for over two decades. He still makes numerous appearances on “Jamboree USA” every year. Many of his songs are at the heart of hard-working Americans and their lives and dreams – a reflection of our country. He continues to receive airplay and often his songs land on the Independent European country music charts. This album is Darnell’s most recent and includes many of hit songs.
