"Rise", Joanne Rand's twelfth CD, is comprised of ten new songs, intimate, playful, personal and universal. The album was recorded live (high quality multitrack) with her band at two recent shows and overdubbed with string arrangements, voice, piano, guitar, toms, synth, flute, mandolin, etc.

Writing and playing music since childhood in the Deep South, Rand cut her performance teeth playing bluegrass in Alaska and spun musical magic with natives in the Amazon. She spent six formative years as a performer touring from her homestead in California’s remote wilderness, fully launching her career in California’s North Bay Area, where she remains revered as one of the region’s finest independent artists. A North Bay Bohemian readers’ poll voted her “Best Acoustic Band,” and dubbs Rand a “legendary…longtime local hero.” “Nothing short of brilliant.” -Santa Rosa PD During the 1990’s Rand moved to Seattle helping to anchor the city’s thriving music scene, collaborating with AIDS activist brother, Jordan Rand.
