“The Louisiana Purchase” was a musical group of mythical proportion that never attained national recognition for their musical abilities, or any of their recordings. This CD is a result, of the many compilations of grooves, that came from their many years of playing on stage together. “The Louisiana Purchase” was emulated by many musical groups for their showmanship, professionalism, and musical presentation. Their charisma was unmatched. In the 70s “The Louisiana Purchase” moved to Detroit, Michigan, where they resided for many years, and were managed by Otis Williams (hello O., from the guys), Melvin Franklin aka (David English), and Cornelius Grant (former musical director) of “The Temptations.” Additionally, "The Louisiana Purchase" owes a debt of gratitude to Benjamin Wright III, also a former musical director for "The Temptations", for his unwavering support and help. “The Louisiana Purchase” became very popular in many U.S. cities including Detroit, Minneapolis, (The Riverview Supper Club), New York (The Apollo Theatre) and across the border Canada (The Ramada Inns), along with being the most popular musical group in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a result of this popularity “The Louisiana Purchase” opened concerts for many stars, such as: “The Temptations” (whom they toured with for many years),- Patti Labelle,- “Maze,” - B. B. King, - James Brown, - Gladys Knight, - “Kool and the Gang,” - Tyrone Davis, -“The Barkays,” - “Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes,” - “The O’Jays” and many others. As a direct result of Hurricane Katrina, members of “The Louisiana Purchase” have been displaced in various cities across the United States. However, even Hurricane Katrina couldn’t dampen their musical spirits or their love for New Orleans. They will continue to "Laissez les bon temps roulez" (let the good times roll) no matter where they are.
