by Greg PratoBy releasing quite a sonically rich debut solo album (1997's This Conversation Seems Like a Dream), Kip Winger could have attempted to painstakingly replicate the album on-stage, or scale it back dramatically. Turns out he chose the latter, resulting in the release of 1998's Another Way, which saw the singer replicate the stripped down versions he played on the supporting tour -- but in the studio. Depending on where it was released, the 13-track release goes by three different names -- "Another Way" in Japan, "Made by Hand" in Europe, and also "Down Incognito" in the U.S. For the most part however, the track listing remains the same on all -- kicking off with the all-new studio title track, the rest should be familiar to longtimers -- "Miles Away," "Headed for a Heartbreak," "Easy Come Easy Go," and more. While most will prefer the better known full-band versions, serious Kip worshipers will probably want to take the plunge.
