This album arrived after a long time of playing live gigs and developing our own sound through original arrangements on jazz standards. We began to write originals for this album last summer, resulting in our first single, "Downtown", making its live debut in September. It was also at that time that we began to collaborate with local, talented artists, and began to ideate for the album. Recording took place October through April, and during this time we developed our originals and covers as we continued to play and improvise at gigs. Through this looping process of practicing, playing, recording, and revisiting ideas, we feel that we have come up with a great album that people will really enjoy. We put our own spin on famous tracks like St. James Infirmary, Summertime, and Misty, and in the process came up with original songs that took influence from a myriad of genres and artists. Songs like Downtown, Súbito, and Arrakis are hard to classify into one genre due to the variant of musical backgrounds each band member brings to this project. We hope you enjoy!
