简介
Tubesia, featuring Enrique "Hank" C. Feldman on solo tuba, was produced by Pat Sheridan and engineered by Mark J. Morrette. The arrangements were by both Hank and Willie Hill. All biographical notes are by Fritz Kaenzig of the University of Michigan. Recorded on August 1, 2, and 3 at the Berger Performing Arts Center in Tucson, Arizona, this CD is dedicated to the loving presence of grandparents, mentors and friends: Carlos Canez Sr., Victoria S. Canez, Angeles Feldman, and Lorraine Wagner. Throughout Tubesia, Hank Feldman is featured on tuba, both on jazz and classical selections. Unlike a typical tuba, Hank soars over all 5 octaves of his B & S Perantucci, hand-made, F tuba. From famous tenor arias, to burning blues, to ethnic grooves, he finds his warm, intense, and passionate voice in the tuba. You'll never think of the tuba the same again. Hank is the current President of the F.A.M.E. Foundation (Fostering Arts-Mind Education), the Director of Evolved Learning, Inc. and is in demand as both a performing artist and composer. He is the former Associate Director of Bands at the University of Arizona and the former Assistant Band Director at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Tubesia is a cultural fusion of multiple styles and grooves. It features musicians who today have recorded many well known CD's with major artists. For the jazz selections you'll hear Rene Camacho, who is the current bassist for Celia Cruz. On drums, Robin Horn, who has recorded and performed with artists including Tommy Newsome, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Sample, Diane Schurr and Paul Horn. At the keyboards is Jeff Haskell, who has performed at virtually every major jazz festival in the world. On Latin Percussion, Guillermo "Bubba" Fass can be heard and has studied and performed with Poncho Sanchez. Also on Latin Percussion is Arturo Rodriguez, who has performed with Dave Valentin and Paul's Word Beat Ensemble. On Tenor Saxophone, the dark reedy sounds of Dr. Willie Hill, Jr. will be enjoyed. Willie has performed with host of International stars, including Dizzy Gillespie and Jon Faddis. Dr. Hill is a former President of the International Association of Jazz Education, the current President of MENC; the national association of music education, and the Director of the Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. On the classical selections, Marie Sierra is the pianist and shows an amazing ability to shadow the soloist at all times. Marie is a former faculty member of the Vanderbilt School of Music and Piano Faculty and is currently in demand throughout the United States of America and Mexico.
