简介
Local songwriter launches a collection of new songs interpreted by John Hoban and Teresa Burke and friends. All will receive a warm welcome to Puddletown, where according to Tom Hughes “even the drowning get left high and dry”. Recently featured on RTE’s John Murray show this collection of original songs composed by Mayo-based songwriter Tom Hughes, has received significant acclaim from many quarters recently. Puddletown will be presented by John Hoban and Teresa Burke supported by the highly accomplished Mary Travers and soulful singer/songwriter Billy Clarke. John will bring his master musicianship and with the remarkably true voice of Teresa Burke they will give life to places we all know well (and yet not at all) in this live performance of the Album. Join with John, Teresa and friends to hear the haunted songs, the fading whispers of the dead still breathing life into the gathered embers, the candle kept lit, the cave walls daubed with the signs of magic in Bolger’s car park, by Lough Lannagh, in a puddle on Stabal Hill, the stars reflected, shedding the dust of galaxies and skin…. Review of CD Launch Puddletown by John Hoban and Teresa Burke in The Linenhall Theatre Castlebar I attended the launch of a new CD “Puddletown” by John Hoban and Teresa Bourke with songs written by Tom Hughes in the Linenhall Theatre Castlebar I had already heard some songs on the radio and The Linenhall brochure with its strangely strange language about Puddletown further raised my expectations and curiosity. From the moment Teresa sang the first notes of “Man Caught” to the beautiful harmonies of the last song “Shallow Grave” I was hooked. Every line reached out to me, not in a story like way, but more like and abstract painting hinting at the unsaid. Image upon image like a surreal movie brought to cohesion in words and music. Tom Hughes has crafted a bunch of songs that will stay with me forever. The CD launch was a triumph for all I believe in this sometimes crazy musical world. Local musicians and songwriters hitting the spot that the music business fails to do. The arrangements, instrumental accompaniment and singing of the songs was always going to be sensitive in the hands of the John Hoban Teresa Burke Mary Travers and Billy Clarke and the audience soaked up the vibe. Tom Hughes has given his precious gems to Teresa and John and they have not let him down. Well done everyone! The Puddletown is till playing in my car and will be for some time Tony Reidy Song Writer We were thrilled to receive this audience reaction to last night's performance "Puddletown" by email this morning: "Congratulations to the entire team for an extraordinary musical experience last night, Thursday, Puddletown. one of those perfect evenings that can only 'occur' occasionally but which vindicate the continued existence of the facility, and face down the begrudgers if there are any left who have not been converted, God help them. A Proud Mayo Man"
