简介
Josh Levine is a NYC bassist and vocalist specializing in Latin American music, jazz and music for kids. Chromachord Dream showcases several of the different bands he works with regularly plus some special guests. Featured artists include Champian Fulton, Frank "the real Harley" Schaap, Jainardo Batista, Aaron Halva, Mireya Ramos, Lance Murphy, Fabien Mary, Lawrence Leathers, Ian MacDonald, Brian Lazarus of Cumbiagra, Karina Colis, Miguel Weisman, David Langlois, Shea Fiol and Samuel Torres. Recorded at Soundworks Recording Studio in Astoria from November of 2010 through early 2011 by the very gifted engineer Kamilo Kratc, this unconventional album contains five originals by Josh and ten covers of jazz, latin and kids standards. Some of the highlights are the vocal pairings. Jainardo Batista and Mireya Ramos blend beautifully on Levine's Winding Road and Desvelo de Amor, perhaps the most widely praised song by the great Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hernandez. The silky voice of pianist and singer Champian Fulton and the rugged texture of guitarist Frank Schaap's vocals create striking contrasts on Two Sleepy People and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Schaap is a real character -- Harley, played by Steve Earle on the HBO series Treme, is based on Frank. This is an enhanced CD. Put it in your CD player and it plays just like a regular CD. Put it in your computer and you can watch a short video montage of the studio sessions, learn more about all of the musicians and artists involved, see lyrics and translations for selected songs and more.
