Several years ago, at a fundraising event in Jersey City to help people displaced by a massive hurricane, a 15-year old girl from the Bronx came out of a stage with a microphone in her hand. Amidst modest applause, she signals awkwardly to the sound man giving him the cue to play the backing track to her chosen number. Now, given that her presence was undoubtedly teeny and carefree, the audience would not have been wrong if they expected the girl to sing a Katie Perry number or an Ariana Grande tune. But when the sound man hit the play button and the unmistakeable lush string intro of Etta James’ signature song At Last permeated the venue, a collective gasp blended with the sonic beauty of the soul classic. Yes, the lanky teenager touched the untouchable - and nailed it. It was perhaps the closest thing to seeing an en masse jaw drop. For how can this little girl could tackle a song as soulful and bold as At Last? For many, there’s was only one logical explanation: They have witnessed a vocal phenom. A prodigy. A genius. Fast forward to 2016, now 20-years old, that vocal phenom is ready to share to the world the gift of music that she was born with. Her name is Gail
