TREYCE' Gospel recording artist, was brough up in a house where music was part of everyday life. Her roots and foundation are in the baptist church and the soulful gospel that touches hearts and minds and saves souls. Treyce' is a current member of Loving Missionary Baptist Church, Bloomington, IL, where Reverend William Johnson is Pastor. Treyce’was born in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, the twelfth child of the late Robert L. and Gloria M. Gaston. Her father played guitar and all of her seven brothers sang lead for different bands over the years. “My family enjoyed a wide range of music genres." Treyce’ has spent many years singing with a Baptist choir and is a willing worker in God’s house. Treyce’s performed with Illinois State University’s Creative Arts Ensemble, lead by then Director of Music, Dr. Frank Suggs. Dr. Suggs coached and gave voice lessons and exposed Treyce to many unique jazz and gospel sounds. Treyce’ had the pleasure of singing with “Valentino” in Las Vegas where they were opening for “The Imperials” at the Oasis Casino. Encouraged by her family, Treyce entered the Christian Artist Talent Search competition in 2002. Treyce’s entry into the Christian Artist Talent Search (C.A.T.S.) was under divine direction and proved to be a success when she was notified of her semi-finalist status. In August of 2002, Treyce’ performed at Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tennessee in the regional competition and won in her category becoming a finalist in the Urban Solo category. Her Journey to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete in the National C.A.T.S. competition provided an opportunity for Treyce’ to showcase her gift and to meet and network with many talented, individuals. The competition aired nationally with Clifton Davis hosting and many star-studded judges. In January of 2003, Treyce’ completed her first single which she co-wrote with Producer/Performer-Darrell Davis of Springfield, Illinois. The song was mixed by Aaron Sullivan, CEO of Encore Productions. The debut solo was a contemporary gospel song entitled “Nobody but Jesus”. The song had industry professionals acknowledging its potential to reach a needful audience. Treyce teamed up with Dexter O'Neal of Warrior Associates and recorded her latest CD entitled Try Him! This CD has a unique blend of contemporary, traditional and even jazz infused gospel rythems that provide something for everyone to enjoy. All of the songs are originals written and arranged by Treyce' (Elaine Hill contributed to All My Help). Back in the studio working on her second release with the help of GAP (Giving All Praise),and many talented musicians, it is her prayer to change lives through her love of Christ that is evidenced in her music. Treyce' acknowledges that God has been there for her on so many levels and says that she has no other choice but to use every good thing she has to praise him.
