简介

100% acoustic, live, super high-end mics, all one take. Rich harmonies, warm guitars, lots of space and killer grooves. This EP was recorded to 2" tape between the hours of 2pm and 4pm on October 9th, 2010. 100% acoustic. One take. No headphones and completely live with super nice microphones at OTR studios in Belmont, California by our good friend Cookie Marenco. She uses silver cables for everything and really nice microphones. If you want to know more about her approach to capturing that super warm acoustic sound, look up Blue Coast Records. The recording was a sneak surprise when we were touring northern California to spread the word about this 1% for the Planet compilation we have tune on. Cookie produced Garett's first record (Little Cottonwood) so when we rolled through Cookie's neighborhood on our way to a lame gig at Stanford University, she said "Hey, why don't you bag that gig and come throw down some new sh*t. Lets see if we can get it!" So in true epic audiophile acoustic Cookie style, we hung out. Fortunately, Garett had been sitting on a bunch of new material that he'd been writing in his magic bus (old salty red) that he has parked up near Mt. Hood. So they decided to take a whack at those new tunes. Low and behold, the first takes sounded pretty damn good. So they called it a wrap, poured a little makers in their coffee and decided not to play the lame gig Stanford. But hunt for burritos instead. These tunes feature 4 previously unreleased tracks (Heaven, Biscuit Smoke, Because You Can, Bags of Ice) and one new version of a track (Hard Up Babe) from Garett's 2009 album, Huckleberry Tree. The artists on this special EP include: Jon Neufeld - acoustic guitar and harmonies Eben Dickinson - drums and harmonies Will Amend - upright and harmonies NOTE: when you buy the hardcopy, you will receive the album cover and inside will be a collecter's item download beer coaster---not an actual plastic disc. We've done this for a few reasons in response to feedback we got from fans who are trying to reduce unnecessary plastic, but still want the high, CD-quality sound files. So this is our solution. You still get cool album art, you get a cool beer coaster, and you get two versions of the album to add to your digital library: WAV files + MP4 files (still twice as large as the low-grade MP3's you get on iTunes). If you have any problems with the process, don't hesitate to contact us Three Pin Records at www.threepin.org.
