Troy Smith is the worship pastor of Lake Samm Foursquare Church in the greater Seattle area. (www.lakesamm.org) He grew up in the Canadian Prairies and has always had a song on his heart. He met the Lord when he was 11 and quickly came to love worshiping God. While sitting in his apartment at the age of 21 he felt the still small voice of the Lord simply ask him to learn the guitar. Soon after that the Lord began to open up opportunities for him to lead worship at his church. He cut his teeth leading worship at a church plant in El Paso, TX and then spent a few years on staff with Youth with a Mission in Los Angeles (www.ywamla.org) where he helped train up worship leaders at their School of Worship. It was during these schools that Troy grew in his calling and began to write worship songs. His journey led him to the northwest where he has served the last 5 years as a worship pastor of an amazing church. Troy recently married his amazing wife Sarah and they love to minister together discipling the youth and college students of their church. Troy has a heart to see all nations worship their creator. He hangs on tight to Psalms 86:9 which says that “All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Troy has ministered around the world including India, New Zealand, West Africa, Chile, Mexico, Hungary, Israel, and Belarus. He hopes to serve long term as a missionary in an unreached country. His first studio project “O My Soul” is a collection of songs that have sprung up from his last 5 years of serving at Lake Samm Foursquare. They are songs that are filled with hope and the truth of the word. The title comes from Psalm 42:11 where David asks himself “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
