Susan John takes s a subversive approach to opera with her arrangements of "acoustic arias". The idea behind Chanson Boheme is to present traditional opera arias in the vein of chamber music, with smaller ensembles. Additionally, the songs are played with unorthodox instrumentation that gives it a world music and classical fusion sound.

As a singer, Susan timbre and style are purely operatic, but makes opera accessible for a new listener. And for all the opera afficionados, this is a new way of hearing familiar classical arias!
