简介
Call it rock with a hint of country. Call it funk with a taste of bluegrass. Throw in a bit of jazz and maybe some good old southern rock and roll. Originally formed in 1998 as a six piece, OverflO has its roots in the suburban Atlanta town of Lilburn, Georgia. When Matt Moore (lead vocals) and Charlie Ozburn (guitar/mandolin) searched for a beat to add to their acoustic show, they found not one but two with the combination of Matt Barnett and Mike Metzger on drums and percussion. After the additions of Ricky Alexander (lead guitar) and Trey Dunlap (bass), the band found that their acoustic act had been transformed into a full rock band. Keyboardist Dan Plevak joined a year later, and OverflO took on its current sound as a seven piece band. Soon after its formation, OverflO began playing in the vibrant music town of Athens, Georgia, broadening their audience and building up a substantial fan base. Now with several recordings under their belt, impressive live shows, and a dedicated following, OverflO continues to mesh its styles and influences, creating music whose appeal spans age groups. Although their style is not easily pigeonholed, the rhythm and spirit of the band converge to create a sound that is instantly recognizable, one that keeps OverflO fans moving from start to finish. Over 400 enthusiastic fans packed Athens' Georgia Theater last month for the concert to celebrate the release of OverflO's latest recording. Through recent collaboration with producer John Keane (R.E.M. Widespread Panic, Indigo Girls), OverflO was able to capture the energy and feel of their live shows in the studio. The group's distinctive three part harmonies, soaring lead guitar riffs, and delicate percussion combine to form a rounded out sound that is familiar yet strikingly new. At the heart of OverflO's songwriting is a seamless blend of narrative lyrical content and inventive melody. The result is one of the more gratifying live musical experiences around. Their latest EP, "Chasing the Noise" showcases the band's depth, variety, and continued growth as musicians and songwriters.
