Soundation was first formed in 1985 in Tyresö south of Stockholm and the band's name was in the beginning "The Sked", which is a play with words and means "Teaspoon" in Swedish. The original members were Jan Zandrén (guitar & vocals), Hans Brehnfors (bass), Staffan Rennermalm (lead guitar) och Kaj Dahlström (drums). The band got a Keyboard player named Pontus Varg and a new drummer named Rickard Pååg in 1986 and changed the name to "Sex på Scén". The band now frequently entered the scenes around the Stockholm area. In 1990 Soundation made a tour around Sweden and Poland. In 1992 the band got a new keyboard player in Joakim Stiernspetz and "Sex på Scén" took the name Soundation. By this time the band was a quite well known coverband in Stockholm and performed as the house band in a well known restaurant /club in Stockholm City.The CD was recorded 1994 at the Fryshuset studio in Stockholm and title song Blue Hotel was picked a few weeks later as demo of the week by the legendary DJ "Dave in the morning" at Bandit Radio.
