After reading Peter Reynold's book, "The Dot," for the first time, my heart began to race with inspiration. I felt a song brewing and sat down with my guitar and the open children's book. The simplistic illustrations are a perfect match for the acoustic guitar and the story that unravelled on the first few pages settled into the first verse. Then I asked myself, "what was your favorite part of this book?" The answer was simple, "make a mark." And since repetition makes a song memorable and catchy, I wrote the lyric to be, "make, make, make a mark." This was the beginning of the chorus, which wrote itself after this point. After author Peter Reynolds heard a rough demo recording of the song in its early stages, he was thrilled to collaborate and spread the word!
