Billy North, is a Singer-Songwriter from Seattle, WA. Born on a U.S. military base in Heidelberg, Germany where his father was stationed, after moving back to the States Billy was raised in Southern California. Billy learned to play guitar and began writing songs in his early teens. His influences were originally Top 40 radio and Motown records. Eventually he was influenced by songwriters like Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, and Van Morrison. Billy began performing and doing session work in LA as a singer. He was signed to a production deal, and as a writer placed many of his songs with other artists during this season. As a singer, one of his recordings ended up receiving airplay around the country on AAA formats and was featured as a theme on the television show General Hospital. Billy performed in LA at places like the Troubadour, Largo, and At My Place and in other areas of the country like Memphis, TN (Crossroads Music Festival), Seattle, WA (Folklife Fesitival). While in LA his management handled artists John Hiatt, Leo Kottke and Mary Black. Billy eventually moved to Seattle and began working on his solo debut Under a Big Sky, an intimate acoustic rock record that has received airplay in Seattle on KMTT the Mountain 103.7 FM, KSER 90.7 FM, as well as other stations in the US and Europe. Under a Big Sky was selected to be featured on the MP3.com 2001 sampler CD that reached a global audience of over 200,000 people. Billy has played in local clubs including the Tractor Tavern and Madison café. Billy has recently finished his new self produced CD, Broken.
