简介

"Sephardic songs have always been close to my heart... I am deeply moved by the variety of melodies in which you can hear Jewish motives as well as Spanish and Arabic elements. This is my fourth CD with Sephardic themes, but my favorites Ladino songs received a new color thanks to the musicians of my new ensemble: MAAYAN. The music is played on ancient, traditional and classical instruments, which is an exceptional mixture and makes the consort sound unique. The songs are performed in the original language Ladino but the instruments and arrangements refer to Spanish, Arabic as well as to Klezmer music. The way the pieces are played is the efect of combining different musical worlds: ancient music, ethno, folk, classical music and jazz." MAAYAN Ensemble: Anna Jagielska-Riveiro: vocal, guitar, artistic direction Patrycja Napierała: cajón, udu, darabuka Oliwier Andruszczenko: clarinet, hurdy gurdy Maciej Matysiak: double bass Michał Pindakiewicz: guitar Mateusz Szemraj: oud The CD was issued by RIVEIRO Music as a limited edition in a digipack. Anna Jagielska-Riveiro, charismatic singer, voice teacher, guitar player and music producer. She performs music of various epoques and sings in many styles but in her musical creation she gives a special meaning to Sephardic music. She is an internationally recognized singer of this kind of music and the only one living in Poland who deals with Sephardic music so deeply. Her rich discography includes, among others, a few CDs with Sephardic songs. The artist has been closely cooperating with the Cervantes Institute in Warsaw for a few years, which gave its patronage to her CD: LUNAS OLVIDADAS – Sephardic songs (2009). The CD has also received patronage from the Polish Radio. Her next CD: DOS AMANTES - Sephardic songs, made in a different style, was recorded during the concert at the Polish Radio in Warsaw as a part of the Project BAJO EL CIELO DE SEFARAD – UNDER THE SKY OF SEPHARAD organized by the artist with the cooperation with the Cervantes Institute and the Royal Palace in Warsaw (2010). Apart from musical traditions of Spain, Anna Jagielska-Riveiro also performs music of widely understood Jewish culture - her repertoire, apart from Sephardic songs, contains Hebrew and Yiddish songs. She also sings Jewish liturgical repertoire. Although Sephardic, Jewish as well as Spanish ancient music have been most important within her artistic search so far, the artist also performs other kinds of music - for example music of Latin American countries. Anna Jagielska-Riveiro constantly gives concerts in Poland and abroad – she has performed in: Spain, Mexico, France, England, Italy, Germany, Lithuania and other countries. She is invited to international festivals connected with Jewish and Sephardic music (for example: X INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SEPHARDIC MUSIC in Cordoba, Spain) as well as to ancient and world music festivals. In 2011 she was especially honored to perform at the opening ceremony of the only Sephardic Synagogue in Poland restored in Zamość. During her artistic career she has studied numerous vocal techniques connected with classical, ancient, folk as well as pop music. She uses her knowledge and experience while teaching at vocal workshops especially dedicated to Sephardic music. The development of her vocal technique was particularly influenced through work with the eminent singers such as: Jadwiga Dzikówna (Poland) and Montserrat Figueras (Spain). She has been recording for the radio and television and she has made several CDs, among others: „DOS AMANTES – Sephardic songs” (Riveiro Music 2011) „LUNAS OLVIDADAS – Forgotten Moons – Sephardic Songs” (Riveiro Music 2009) „CANTIGAS DE AMIGO – Songs to a lover - Medieval women’s songs” (Riveiro Music 2008) „NOCHE LATINA - Latin night” (2001) „CANTOS DE LA ESPANA ANTIGUA – Songs of Ancient Spain” (2000) „ARVOLICOS D'ALMENDRA – Almond trees” – Sephardic songs (2000)
