"We Are The Motives" is a Guitar Pop E.P. with a sound reminiscent of 50's rock'n roll, while the songs themselves are nowhere nearly as formulaic as said era. They boast restless progressions and bold arrangements and ooze genuine character. Hotpress described The Motives as "thinking way outside the penalty area."

The lead vocals are both soulful, unhinged and sometimes hilarious. The 4 piece band have two distinctly different style guitarists that bring a scintillating dimension to the songs with riffs and bits at every corner, while a solid rhythm section keeps it all together and still bangs out subtle fills and flurries at all the right times.
