Also, please see the Dont's at: http://www.myspace.com/thedonts http://www.thedonts.com "The Dont's make great sense out of a couple of decades of indie-rock chock-a-block, distilling groove, harsh trippiness, and bratty bullhorn abuse into a compellingly good time. The hectoring Fall vocals, extended Can jams, and the tense but eloquent Modest Mouse guitars all speak of a group of youngsters well versed in their indie heritage." - Delusions of Adequacy "Misc Radio Leakage is one of the most intriguing albums released this year. It takes many bands years to establish a muted sound like this. Mixing the best elements of pop, post-rock and a dash of punk, Misc Radio Leakage is a fun, strangely eerie listening experience." - Kludge Magazine "The Dont's take the knotty melodies and fractured rhythms of icons like Wire, the Fall and Gang of Four(not to mention a pronounced Can influence) and bring them into the new millennium." -High Bias "Born of muddied influences that traverse improvisational jazz guitar and the comforting scuzz of "Sister"-era Sonic Youth, Misc Radio Leakage is electric with cunning looseness, an album ripe with justified bravado." -IndieWorkshop "The Dont's sound like a band, in the full sense of the word. The instruments all work together, twisting and turning behind and in front of each other to accentuate their own sparse brand of beer-fueled groove music." - TinyMixTapes.Com "There are moments during Dont's shows when things nearly veer out of control... teetering at the splintered edge of disaster... snarling, elegant, compelling..." - Flavorpill BACKGROUND: A notoriously eclectic bunch, The Dont's spend an inordinate amount of a time improvising in their San Francisco studio, and retain nearly seventy hours of internal recordings since their inception in 2003. They have received airplay and interviews on KUSF, KALX and KZSU and have performed at a few dozen seminal Bay Area venues including Bottom of the Hill, Make Out Room, Elbo Room, and Hotel Utah. Presently putting the final touches on their forthcoming sophomore effort, recorded at SF Soundworks and John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone, The Dont's expect a release date in Summer 2006. On their forthcoming release, The Dont's will feature Tom Waits's longtime sideman Ralph Carney (baritone sax, trumpet, clarinet), Nate Cavalieri on piano/organ (Lesser Lights, ex-The Sights) while expanding their indie rock palate to incorporate everything from saucy New Orleans style romps, crusty psychedelica on Television-inspired long players and their trademark no-fi balladry. In April 2005, the band released Misc Radio Leakage, a binaurally recorded freak rock treasure chest of songs fueled by the post-9/11 world of confusion, paranoia, and towel-cape dissidence. Leakage found the four pursuing darkly melodic passages inspired by Can, The Fall, Flaming Lips, Bauhaus, and vintage Modest Mouse. The self-released record garnered acclaim from nearly two dozen national zines, publications and online review rags. Before the scenester era and the OC revolution, there was a time when independent rock ballyhooed “heart on sleeve” delivery, disregard for image and melodies too jagged and real for syndicated radio. The Dont's usher back a bygone era and whip it with more than just the white belt. - Cole Lucas
