简介
Sheepy / Lucy's Diary - Split Single release from Blang comprising two excellent examples of Pop Punk song-making. Sheepy - 'Don't Know Much'. A speedball of buzzing guitars and melody. Another slice from the eponymous Sheepy debut album. "‘Don’t Know Much’ is a collision of Kinks infused pop mixed with Glasgow twee creating an ideal summer vibe...... a kaleidoscopic mix of pops finest reference points, blended with humour and self-depravation..... I can’t imagine a US act and label putting this record out in its current form – the focus group or demographic analysis panel wouldn’t have sanctioned it; Sheepy have crafted a melodic, hook laden classic – a slice of real independence, so adverse and unconcerned as to what is current, to what is gracing the pages of the NME. Sheepy are singularly focussed on their own sound, clearly they have an ear for a great pop hook; they are determined to forge their own path, and on the evidence of this debut album release the first few stones have been set, and I’m pretty sure they don’t care what I think about the name or logo. (Louder Than War LP review) Lucy’s Diary's - 'Pieces of Me' is the first new material since their "Riot Grrl" pop-punk debut album ‘Rock Kicks’. Lucy Joplin pouts woozy promises wrapped in a blanket of circular psychobilly guitars and loose beats. Effortlessly warm and sun-flecked. “one of my favorite things is ethereal female vocals over dirty guitars, Lucy’s Diary fit that category well” ( Frank Skinner interview in Mojo) "You instantly know that Lucy Joplin’s junior Kim Deal stance has been achieved by repeated attendance at the school of hard knocks rather than through affectation "(Whisperin' And Hollerin')
