简介

Strat'Ovarious was recorded and mixed by Dave Beegle in Loveland Colorado with guitarist and Musical Director Dr. Robert M. Williams. An interesting range of vintage guitar amps (Marshall, Fender, Vox and Gibson) were carefully selected by Dave Beegle to match the tone of the original classic and mic'd at high volume and mixed by Dave Beegle using ProTools. Quite a range of primarily Fender Stratocaster guitars (thus the album title "Strat'Ovarious") were used including both vintage, vintage re-issue, Custom Shop and Masterbuilt guitars. On the Pat Metheny song "Sunlight", Colorado artist Mark Sloniker played piano. In addition, for Sunlight, an entirely new guitar and piano composition for the last half of the song was written and recorded by Williams and Beegle using a vintage Roland guitar synthesizer. On the classic Eric Clapton tune "Layla", Jill Janssen Williams plays piano for the second movement of Layla. On the Santana song Evil Ways, a vintage Hammond B3 organ was used and played by Dave Beegle. Piano parts on Key to the Highway were played by Dave Beegle. Acoustic guitars were also used on several tracks including a vintage 1967 Martin 0008, and a Breedlove concert guitar (Sunlight, Key to the Highway). Other artists on Strat'Ovarious includes singer Keith Rosenhagen (all tracks), bass guitarist Mike Olson (all tracks except Pride and Joy, Key to the Highway, Evil Ways and Comfortably Numb), bass guitarist Dr. Douglas H. Thamm (Pride and Joy, Evil Ways, Key to the Highway), and bass guitarist Lou Gobis (Comfortably Numb). Percussion is provided by Matt Henderson (all tracks except Pride and Joy, Evil Ways and All Along the Watchtower), percussionist Eric Dunlop (Pride and Joy, Evil Ways) and percussionist Randy Amen (All Along the Watchtower). Mike Olson also composed synthesizer tracks on Sunlight. Guitarist Dr. Hiroaki Suga from Tokyo Japan, contributed lead guitar parts on Sunlight, Layla and Key to the Highway. Dr. David Grainger contributed vocals on Evil Ways. The Masterbuilt Stratocaster featured on the album cover (center guitar) was built by Fender Master Builder Paul Waller. This album is the second album by Williams and Beegle with the previous album "Strat'Osphere" being previously released in 2012. For all of these cover tunes, Beegle and Williams tried to emulate and pay tribute to the original version and added substantial original instrumental “jam” sections on the latter half of each tune.
