简介

The Variation is a form that has been a particular favorite of composers, since it offers endless possibilities. A variation set presents alterations of a theme as it is repeated with new figurations, textures and moods. This Eroica CD contains a mix of both well known and obscure works spanning three centuries. Chopin variations serve as the bookends, while the rest of the works include continuous bariations written for the harpsichord or virginal from the 16th-18th Centuries, and works for piano from the late 18th and 19th Centuries. THE ARTIST A native of Niagara Falls, Canada of Hungarian-German descent, Jane Solose leads an active career as a featured concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist, and master teacher. Her performances have taken her to Austria, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Canada, and around the U.S. She is a past winner of the CBC Radio Music National Competition in Canada and received special commendation at the International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Award Competition. Solose has recorded for Capstone Records, Living Artist Recordings, CBC National Radio, and National Public Radio in the Midwest, and has been published in the journals 20th Century Music and Clavier. She performed solo works by Liszt at the 2005 Great Romantics Festival in Canada and at the American Liszt Society 2006 Festival. Duo Solose, a duo-piano collaboration with her sister Kathleen, perform to enthusiastic ovations. Dr. Solose is currently an Associate Professor of Piano at the Conservatory of Music and Dance, University of Missouri – Kansas City.
