简介
Quentin Lee, who goes by the stage name of Nic West, was born on Aug. 15, 1992, in Ripley, Tennessee. Lee grew up making music, which offered a satisfying creative outlet and wonderful solace from the stress of being raised in a broken home. He began by playing drums 8 years old and later began writing songs and performing. West grew up in a run-down pink apartment. West recalls the shame he felt about the place he called home up until he was a senior in high school, when they finally moved into a house. This is the rapper’s uncensored and unvarnished truth because he created, produced and funded the project himself. He blends hip-hop, rap, soul and blues to create a unique sound that is simultaneously cutting edge and timeless. The popular Tennessee rapper didn’t have to answer to anyone else when making his self produce debut solo project; all of the decisions were his and his alone, and the result is an irresistible collection of songs that offer enticing rhymes that make you think about the lyrics long after the songs have stopped. "I'm that person that was always told by teachers and elders that I would be somebody, but my peers were always the one that doubted me. I'm just trying to prove to everyone around the world that you can be whatever you want to be. Some won't understand your journey because they don't have the vision that you have."
