简介
Singer/songwriter/pianist Sharman Duran has combined jazz and irony in "Postapocalyptic Subterranean Paradise". She's teamed up with bassist/composer Aaron Germain and written lyrics to the latter's composition "Higashi Nakano". In its new incarnation, re-titled "Postapocalyptic Subterranean Paradise", Duran offers an optimistic (though tongue-in-cheek) portrait of a future post-climate change world in which humans have adapted to the ravaged earth and are making the most of it. There are new vacation destinations such as San Francisco, now a cool underwater park where you can scuba dive among the ruins, or the Northwest Passage with its sunny beaches. Day to day existence is pretty much unchanged, albeit mostly lived in temperature-controlled underground cities to avoid having to deal with inconveniences such as unbreathable air, constant fires and floods, etc. Very few are left who can wax nostalgic about the days when everyone lived on the surface of the planet and enjoyed the bounty of Mother Nature. Anyway, in that future world, as now, most people spend so much of the time looking at their phones that they've hardly noticed that anything's different. "Postapocalyptic Subterranean Paradise" is a well-crafted recording, featuring the talents of Sharman Duran, piano and vocals; Melecio Magdaluyo, clarinet; the aforementioned Aaron Germain (bass) and drummer Alan Hall.
