"Le Fil Rouge" is the sophomore release from bassist/composers Julie Slick and Marco Machera (now formally known as EchoTest) who continue their aural exploration into unexpected territory with two low-pitched instruments. Known mostly for their work in the progressive rock community, this album forges ahead in the genre by adding elements of trip-hop and post-rock to create a decidedly moody and intense, yet melodic and danceable experience. The album features the stellar drumming of Tobias Ralph (fellow member of Adrian Belew Power Trio and The Crimson ProjeKCt) on most tracks, while Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Lithuania) provides the thunderous backbeat on "The Drift", which also features Mike Visser (Springs, Imaginary Tricks) on lead vocals. Sarah "Flossy" Anderson (Chrome Hoof) closes the album with her gorgeous string arrangements on "Les Bouclés Bleues" and "A Pleasant Torture." "Le Fil Rouge" was recorded at The Bunker Home Studio in Latina, Italy, during the summer of 2014. Mixed by Todd Mecaughey at Cambridge Sound Studio in Philadelphia, USA and mastered by Mark Trewella (Full Circle Mastering) in Philadelphia, USA, over the course of January 2015.
