There is a kind of music that you hear and you have to dance. Through which the past comes to life and cultures come together. It's the music of Le Matrioske wich combines folk and new-trad dances and is increasingly popular in Europe. Le Matrioske presented their first, after years of intense authentic field research and rousing live performances. The album reflects the fascinating formula between Balfolk and Festa a ballu show created by the band: new versions of traditional dancing songs, coming both from South Italy and the rest of Europe. Moreover original compositions in which the music reflects the connection between passionate musicians. In the first album (production POPOLARTI and UR which premiered on May in Brussels), you can listen to songs that accompany the Sicilian tarantella, pizzica, tammurriata, but also the Scottish and French mazurka, valse and the Russian troika. The name of the band is in fact a metaphor for the melting pot of peoples and cultures Their music is deeply rooted in Sicily and faithful to the dance steps but looks to the rest of Europe and mixes styles, according to a conscious research and puts the spotlight on the vitality in each dance. Established member of the group are Ciccio Piras on guitar, voice, diatonic organ and kickdrum, Roberta Miano on violin and banjolin, Virginia Maiorana on accordion and Simona Ferrigno in the double role of percussionist and teacher of traditional dances. On this album we have guest appearances by Marcello Alaimo on diatonic organ and Andrea Udu Le Moli on double bass.
