简介

Take the Road Less Traveled is the new CD from Al Dunkleman on Deep Plow Records. This debut album from the singer-songwriter extraordinaire, blends contemporary and traditional folk styles. This album chronicles Dunkleman’s life journey from Upstate New York to the mountains of North Carolina. Sixteen tracks feature twelve original songs and four original instrumentals. Tracks include the themes of love (“I Know I Love You” and “Tomorrow I’ll Be Gone”), family (“Hold My Hand” and “Cookies on the Counter”), and home (“Take Me Back to My Home”). Social issues are highlighted in protest (“Does Anybody Care?”), murder tragedy (“Shelley’s Song”), and economic despair (“What Will I Do?”). Dunkleman revisits literary themes of Thomas Wolfe and the dilemma of going back home again (“New Plowed Ground”), and the title track draws inspiration from the beloved Robert Frost poem (“Take the Road Less Traveled”). Each skillfully crafted song, along with Dunkleman’s pure and personable vocals, exudes heartfelt emotion and vivid imagery. The fresh and authentic instrumentals include a rousing old-time fiddle tune (“Quittin’ Time”), a beautiful harmonica melody (“Back Home”), and two banjo tunes—one upbeat clawhammer style (“On the Run”), and one slower, two-finger picking style (“Joseph’s Song”). Al adeptly plays all the instruments on the CD—guitar, upright bass, banjo, fiddle and harmonica. What Others Are Saying-- “Thank you so much for sharing your fine music.
