When 2014 "Big Sampie" Award Winners, Adrianne Chapman and Mike Gorey met in the summer of 2006, they found a strong connection with each other through music. Cliche as it may be, Mike (former lead guitarist of the band Faded Blue) observed her singing talent in awe, and sought after her; Adrianne (long-time performing singer & music instructor) was impressed with his songwriting ability, and was instantly taken with his serenade. They started working together making music, and found perfect harmony. Mark Stullenburger of the “Victoria Standard” newspaper describes a review of one of their live performances: “Early in the concert, it became quite evident that the Goreys were more than good, and that the audience was in for a special night of music. They began the concert with their song, “Haul in the Lines”, that Michael wrote. The song is exceptionally well written, with both a traditional Celtic and new Celtic Flare. Throughout the concert the Gorey's song selections showcased their strong vocals and playing abilities. Michael's guitar work, singing and song writing skills are excellent. Adrianne's singing qualities and piano work are exceptional. Her voice is strong and beautiful, capable of a full range of styles and intensities.” They are now married and live in beautiful Ingonish, Cape Breton, where they have just released their debut album.
