Marimba Concerti

简介

"Ludwig Albert and Chin-Cheng Lin are nothing short of miraculous. Their performance takes the listener into a new world of Sound and Magic" - Heather Kurzbauer, Strad Magazine, 18 May 2014. Marimba Concerto No.1 : One World One Dream One Love - Chin-Cheng Lin for marimba solo and string orchestra I composed this concert in 2006 originally for marimba & symphony orchestra. The title is inspired by the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing China. At this moment of my life, I enjoy to work with tonal elements and as well as to create also interesting dissonances in the chords. That way I composed this work in a post tonal style. Each movement has a different character as the title indicates. These three movements might be sounding easy for the listener, however the technical challenge is highly demanding for the marimba performer. At the present I completed my fourth concerto and hope in the meanwhile you all be pleased with this concerto No.1. (Chin-Cheng Lin) The Universe : Double Concerto for two marimbas and string orchestra - Ludwig Albert The inspiration for this piece is the idea that the universe is unpredictable and it presents a true voyage of discovery. The first movement describes the cosmic space filled with meteorites, planets and comets. Strong accents and rhythms merging with the soloists and the full orchestra transcend this movement. The second movement, the contrasts in space is clearly made audible by two different music styles; modal and tonal. This lyrical, romantic part is a reflection of the silence in space. The third movement represents the universe: the death of a planet, the merger, the galaxy, the unknown objects and the birth of new starts. (Ludwig Albert)
