Soul Soup started as a collaboration between two emcee’s from the Skull Control crew in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Äkword Actwrite and Soy the Organic Hispanic have known each other since 2008, but have been performing together since 2013, when Soul Soup was founded. They both were born in Albuquerque but ended up leaving when they were young, Äkword to the San Fernando Valley and Soy to the mountains of Northern New Mexico. They honed theirs styles in different regions of the country and returned to Albuquerque where they met and instantly hit it off. Being in the same crew and living down the street from each other it was only natural to start making music together. What started out as a couple of songs soon grew in to an entire project and the forming of the group Soul Soup. Since 2013 they have released the “Comfort Food LP” in 2014 and a collaboration with fellow skull control artist Def-I titled “Three Piece Soup”. Soul Soup has opened up for Pharaoh Monch, Murs, and Blackalicious. After a two year hiatus dues to unforeseen circumstances Soul Soup is back and ready to hit the ground running.
