简介
SCOTT PHILLIPS is a Nashville based independent artist originally from the backwood hills of Northwestern Pennsylvania. He is a husband and soon to be daddy (coming March 21st, 2006!). Scott has a heart to serve others with his talents and has been engaged in a full-time music career since 2002, serving people of all ages. His musical style, best described as acoustic folk-pop, captivates audiences with his true-to-life stories expressed through heartfelt, conversational lyrics and catchy melodies. In his free time Scott likes to hike, swim and build things out of wood. His casual approach to live performance connects with audiences on many levels. Lyrically, Scott lays himself wide open and vulnerable in an attempt to connect as a real person to real people, believing that, "Honesty is what paves the way to originality." Stories laced with side-splitting humor and hard-hitting truths will relate to each audience member on a personal level and leave them not only entertained, but encouraged in their faith. In 2002, as a youth pastor at a church in Indiana, Scott began working on his first album, a self-titled compilation of nearly five years of introspective songwriting, including songs like Good God, which asks God tough questions about human suffering, and Rooster, a song about God's outpouring of grace despite our disobedience. The overwhelming local acceptance of the album led to the launch of his full-time, independent music career. Then, in April 2003, exactly a year after the success of his first album, Scott released his second independent project, Tightrope, a reference to the balancing act that every Christian faces as we walk the narrow road. Songs like I Should and Just Because deal with the struggle between accepting a perfect love from God and trying to earn it. You Came Around and So You Would Know shed light on the abundant blessings we have because of God's presence in the world today. In May of 2005, Scott signed on with Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing Group (BMG) in a songwriting/co-publishing deal that placed him in the ranks of some of Christian music's brightest and best song crafters. Most recently, Scott released his 3rd full-length release, appropriately titled Love and the Like. All new songs about relationships, growth, searching, and longing for change - featuring pianist Chris Hennig in an organic and stripped down piano/guitar/vocal recording of some of Scott's latest and best work. Scott currently lives in Spring Hill, TN with his super-pretty wife Carol Jean and his dog Mallie who, as it turns out, is the executive producer on his latest album. Here's what others are saying about Scott: "The first time I heard Scott's music I was so refreshed, not only by the music itself, but by the awareness of God in every day life throughout his songs. The true privilege however, has been to know him personally and see that in whatever he does, he seeks to bring glory not to himself, but Jesus, the one he loves the most." - singer Denise Jones, Point of Grace "Scott Phillips is a humble musician willing to be used by the Lord. A true wordsmith, Scott pours himself into his songs. His music is lyrically and sonically strong...a pleasure to listen to." - Bruce Barrows, Music Director, Family Life Network "His are the creations you'd expect if you took someone's heart, the very core of their being, and ran it through a musical filter." - Rev. Shane Smith, Rochester, NY "Scott Phillips is brilliant. It astonishes me that anyone his age could possibly be so theologically articulate and so powerful in his communication of the Gospel through music. His guitar stylings are unique and compelling. His voice is a gift. He's the real deal." - Fr. Steven Kalas, Las Vegas, NV
