Ever since I began writing songs at age 16, I've always felt the need to connect emotionally with my listeners. When 9-11 happened, there were no words - so there had to be a song. It was there inside me and I needed to share it with the world.

If you've ever felt humbled by the genius of Jacques Brel, the brilliance of Stephen Sondheim or the power of Harry Chapin, you know how a song can reach out and kick you in the heart. Should my songs succeed at making you feel something genuine -- whether it be love, loss, joy or pain -- I've done my job well.
