简介
“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.” This verse, taken from the book of Psalms, exemplifies the life of Ahnwar G. Yancey. Born and raised in the Washington, DC area, Ahnwar exhibited a love for the Lord and passion for music at an early age. The son of a preacher, he grew up singing in the church, belting out gospel classics from the likes of Mahalia Jackson and Sam Cooke. His powerful tenor voice accompanied by his dynamic showmanship made it clear, even back then, that the Lord had truly blessed him with a unique musical ability. In his early to late adolescent years, Ahnwar sang with a gospel group, “Champions for Christ”, performing at hundreds of churches and other venues up and down the east coast, utilizing his remarkable gift of song to praise the Lord. The group ultimately disbanded as several members left the area to begin their collegiate academic careers. As a young adult, Ahnwar began to stray from his gospel roots and fell into the temptation and empty promise of the R&B music scene, forming an R&B group, S.O.L.E in the latter part of 2001. S.O.L.E. began performing and headlining shows across the Mid-Atlantic region, gaining much fanfare and support along the way. The group ultimately released their debut, self-titled R&B album in 2006. While the album was well-received and led to offers of fame and fortune, it left Ahnwar feeling empty and unfulfilled. His heart heavy and conscience burdened, Ahnwar had a “Road to Damascus” moment in 2008, realizing that R&B was not the field that the Lord intended for him to use his immense talents to pursue. He recommitted his life to Jesus Christ and made a decision to whole-heartedly focus his efforts on composing, producing and performing music solely for the purpose of drawing souls to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ahnwar is determined to use his gift of music to spread the “good news” of Jesus’ salvific power to all that will lend an ear, especially focusing on today’s youth. His music reflects his life experiences, good and bad, pleasant and painful, all the while giving all glory and honor to God for His undying love, mercy and grace.
