In the spirit of the great eccentric, trickster, polymath and song collector Harry Smith we pride ourselves in playing fast and loose with any scholarly or received definition of 'folk music'. While never claiming that our annual releases will match the reach and resonance of Harry's Anthology, perhaps this latest collection does indeed offer a hotwire to an 'Auld Arcane Albion', tapping into a collective unconscious from which the endurance and persistence of our folk traditions ultimately derive.

As a coastal community, the sea too imposes a sometimes unknowing but constant rhythm and presence upon our lives. Fittingly many of the performances herein contain maritime themes, as well as highlighting a local custom or two. Listen with open ears.......
