Southpaw is a recording of a selection of Sydney's finest improvising musicians. The music is evocative and uncluttered,yet full of interest for the fans of modern jazz. The instrumental line-up features Sawkins on guitars,Miroslav Bukovsky on trumpet and fluegelhorn,Alister Spence on piano,Adam Armstrong on bass,Fabian Hevia on drums and Julian Gough on tenor saxophone. The tune 'Assimilation' won 1st prize in the 1998 N.S.W. Jazz Action Society Competition for best Jazz Competition.
