简介
A carrier that has included many different and very rich musical areas, ends up building this piece of art, representing the eclectic and expressive "Instrumental Brazilian Music": "Zanzando", Da Do's fifth CD. We can acknowledge on this work the influences of all researches he made. The study of classical and baroque music between 5 and 15 years of age and the profound learning of "Choro" repertoire, gives us a clear idea of where the melodies of "Voltando pra casa" and "Perdi o Trem" come from. The experience with "Vai Vai School of Samba" and many samba artists such as Paulinho da Viola, Zeca Pagodinho and Wilson das Neves reflects the influences on the originals "Cozinha", "Passatempo" and "Sofrer". The love for Bossa Nova and the friendship with some of its masters such as Carlos Lyra, Helcio Milito and Dom Salvador gives argument for the building of "Bem vindo ao Brasil!", "Eterno" and "Viajante". It's also constant the influence of the great masters of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) style on "Planejando as férias" and "Amor Impossível". "Vai dar certo" is a song of great melodic and harmonic richness. The 7/4 meter reminds the good moments of Da Do's participation on Itiberê Zwarg's "Orquestra Família". The variety of musical styles and brazilian rhythms gives the listener a pleasant and astonishing moment. There's always an innovation for each song and the melodies are accompanied by creative and authentic improvised solos by Da Do and pianist Silvia Goes, giving richness to the hearing. João Parahyba masterly comps the melodies on "timba" percussion and on drums, giving them a very personal and brazilian flavour. He interacts with the solos as if melody and rhythm were one only thing. Marcos Esguleba adds, on percussion, an extremely rich brazilian swing that only he can do. The same way he does regularly on Paulinha da Viola's and Zeca Pagodinho's bands. Zéli Silva, on acoustic bass, gives the necessary blending to the whole musical work. With his great creativity and technique, he creates counterpoints and countermelodies of great beauty throughout the whole record. Silvia Goes, the great nowadays brazilian pianist, creates improvised solos of great beauty and authenticity. She interprets also some melodies in a very expressive and emotive way. Da Do demonstrate to be a very skilled composer in this record: the melodies have no expectations and aim exclusively to create a pleasant hearing moment. He attempts to give life to the great brazilian music. It seems that we're about to see it's extinction, but this record proves us that the good brazilian music has not passed away, instead, it lives young and enchanting as ever on our ears and hearts. With his improvised solos, Da Do shows us to dominate deeply his instruments: saxophone, flute and clarinet. He has a very good taste and elegance, with an exquisite balance of rhythm, melody and technique. Thus creating enchanting, emotional and profound variations. On two tracks, "Eterno" and "Sofrer", there are two wonderful string arrangements by the famous brazilian arranger Leandro Braga. Leandro was very happy on his writing, knowing exactly how to enhance the lyricism of these beautiful and emotional songs. The excellent strings selection was done by Daniel Guedes, renown violinist on the international classical music scene. He is Da Do's friend since when they both studied at Manhattan School of Music, NY. The record is honourably wrapped by an enchanting cover. The famous brazilian art photographer Kitty Paranaguá offers us an inspired selection of 13 black and white pictures. Those are photographs of great artistic value, expressiveness and reliability with the compositions. The same emotional intensity, brazilian flavour and rhythm were preserved on the photos. Designer Maialu Ferlauto recollects the pictures on very beautiful variation of colours, enhancing the happy and optimistic touch of the record. With a manual writing, she gives the same handmade and human flavour of the live recording. Finally, Ding Musa, renown photographer of São Paulo, signs the beautiful photos of Da Do's images.
