简介
Masculine Feminine is a record that lives up to it's name. It has the sound of two opposites that would find no way to survive without one another. Originally hailing from Latvia but now based in London, Krona seem to have both familiarity and originality at the heart of their work. The band are led by guitarist/composer/producer Artur Aleksejevs who appears to understand that being "alternative" is nothing to do with shoes or booze, but has everything to do with no one else aka being yourself. This is a refreshing record to listen to, as it comes across as being slightly out of sync with todays music market. It is for this reason that this debut draws comparisons to Showbiz-Muse. The band are able to confidently draw you into 45minutes of their own creation, a world where downbeat ostinato grooves are the perfect platform for some highly innovative guitar playing and a voice that sounds like no one else's. The band were once described as playing "Industrial Trip-Hop" and this would be a fair description if you could imagine Skunk Anansie bearing the lovechild of Beth Gibbons. "Say-ya" is the track that stands out amongst the others and is an instant classic, with a perfect blend of restraint and rocking. Other songs such as "Sin" and "About You" show a very high level of maturity and craftsmanship for an as yet unsigned band.
