简介
Lau Nau or Laura Naukkarinen, singer-songwriter and musician from Helsinki, Finland, is also a member of free improv and psych folk bands Kiila, Päivänsäde, the Anaksimandros, Avarus, Maailma, and the trio Hertta Lussu Ässä. Valohiukkanen, sepulchral ambient folk and neo -classical projections from Lau Nau, is recorded last year on Kemiö Island, in Turku, Tampere and Stockholm. As on her previous two LPs for Locust, Laura Naukkarinen’s elegant, confessional vocals – delivering lyrics in her native Finnish – are the star of the show, but equally important is the spacious production and the diverse, vivid instrumentation: jouhikko, bass, alto clarinet, guitar, piano, celesta. The biggest departure from past works, though, is the foregrounding of rhythm, especially in such pointedly disco-friendly fashion as on ‘Kuoleman tappajan kuolema’. These drum-led experiments are pretty successful, but at the end of the day what you really want a Lau Nau album for is its serene, snow-capped, gently psychedelic songcraft, and there’s plenty of that – ‘Hamaran hevoset’ being a particularly wintry and woozy delight.
