简介
The group got started in November 15, 2008 in Laurinburg, NC. We started off as a dance group, but that didn’t work out so we turned to something that we really felt passionate about, which was music. We decided from that day on what we wanted out of life and what we had to do. We called ourselves "Da Rookies" which consist of rapper Jaquan Grant aka "2 up 2 down", brother Keon Grant aka "Sk8board Cidd" who also is a rapper and singer Tavarius Hall aka "T.Hall who is there cousin. We knew we would be unstoppable with help of our Promotion team "Off Da Wall" and the help of our managers at the time "Self-Made Moguls. We started at the streets and around the community performing to get heard and sure enough we did just that. From Scotland County to Marlboro, Sc and some more places around NC our team were major . We then dropped our first Mix tape called "Rock The World" which was released in 2011 and had singles like "Designer Diva" Whats Yo Name ft $k33t@" and "Panties Drop".We got some great feedback and some negative feedback (haters) from it lol but both helped us out a lot. After the release of our first mixtape we got straight into the studio (lab) and started on our 2nd project, but because of all the trials and tribulations and studio problems the group had to put that mixtape on hold which led to them waiting and waiting for it.A year pass and the group went from HOT to Who R Da Rookies. It was hard when everyone helped in the beginning then left us out to dry. From all the waiting the oldest of the group 2 up 2 down explain to the rest of the members he would leave and join the military to stack up money for the group.Because money was also a problem they were having at the time "you need money to make money basically."said unknown. So on February 7th, 2012 2 up left for basic training leaving Sk8z & T hall behind to handle things until he returned. While away the group still struggle to return to the state they was at a year ago, but it was hard with no material out so they quickly began to fade from people memories. On June 7th, 2012 2 up 2 down return back home from basic training hoping to start things over with the group. They ended up recording a freestyle to Drake's "The Motto" and plenty more just to get back into the swing of things. Shortly after 2 up 2 down had to leave for South Korea to his first duty station, but a plan was in the works for "Da Rookies" they discussed over and over again about a new mixtape telling friends and family about it, but the distance was a major factor now, but they planned to manage it. Then on September 24th, 2012 the unexpected happen. Group member Tavarius "T.hall" passed away at the young age of 17. That news had a major impact on the group music career, there was talked about quitting music and some more things, However 2 up 2 down & Sk8board Cidd knew Tavarius wouldn't have wanted that so they continued to push. They ended up adding a new member to the group a rapper from Chicago named Jabari White "Jay Bangz" a friend of 2 up 2 down whom he met while in Korea. Jay Bangz battling his own problems at the time had recently parted ways from his own group "Bentley Gang" because of commitment issues and he felt like he wanted to be apart of a team whom he felt would be like his 2nd family and would grind as hard as him to make it out so he became a rookie. The group is still totally devastated about the passing of there cousin who was like a brother but they now know they have to make it for him. Theres a lot still to come from us we are working on two new projects as we speak "Good Times" mixtape and Sk8board's "For You" mixtape. The distance is no longer a concern to us our only mission is just to get it for our family our friends and T hall. Rip#EPIC#ROE#MUSIC HEAD#ROOKIES.
