About the songwriters: SUZANNE MCNEIL SINGER/SONGWRITER/MUSIC EDUCATOR Connecting the geographical and musical dots in Suzanne McNeil’s life could get complicated. She was born in Massachusetts, but grew up on the east coast of Canada on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, where making music is as natural as breathing. Her love of people led her to a career in social work, but it was her love of singing that pulled her away from her island home to a life of road tours across the American Midwest -- her first true musical journey where she thought she was a little closer to Heaven -- getting paid to sing. Thousands of miles and hundreds of performances gave her the chance to hone her talents -- her soulful singing, roots-rock songwriting, and warm on-stage charisma has made her a favorite performer in the Boston area. Suzanne McNeil is a soulful singer with a roots rock edge in her songwriting. She has been compared to the likes of Sheryl Crowe, a young Peggy Lee and Carly Simon. Suzanne's has been teaching children for the past ten years. She is currently an elementary school music teacher at Mount Alvernia Academy in Chestnut Hill, MA. As her students will attest, her enthusiasm for music is contagious. Jill Miller is a singer/songwriter whose sound has evolved into the sophisticated crossroads between Francesca Battistelli’s gritty, velvet clad vocals and the urban pop sound of Amy Grant. Jill fuels her sound with liberal doses of uninhibited emotions that authenticate her lyrics and captivates her audience. Jill is also an inspirational speaker who talks about how to overcome adversity from a woman who has. Her speaking topics include her own real life experiences, including surviving divorce, infertility, and adoption, and her personal faith journey. When attending Jill’s live performance, be prepared to feel as if she is singing for you alone. Her performance persona is like spending the perfect summer evening on the back porch with your best friend, where secret joys and sorrows are shared. Jill’s willingness to be vulnerable and open about her own life draws people into the warm embrace of her music and ministry. SUZANNE AND JILL'S COLLABORATION Suzanne McNeil and Jill Miller met at a songwriting conference in Nashville TN in 2006. They immediately became songwriting partners and great sources of support for each other. Jill and Suzanne soon started touring together in a trio called Lipstick and Laughs. During those long car rides to the next show, they talked about collaborating on a children’s project. Here it is, JUST LIKE ME. Lots of laughter, joy and tender thoughts of children went into this project! Oh and let’s not forget dancing around Suzanne’s living room.
