Never be so sure about what you can’t do; then you can be open for pleasant self-discovery. That home spun philosophy has been ever-present with Mel Thomas since early 2004 when he rediscovered his singing voice that had been dormant for over 30 years--since the seventh grade. That rediscovery began when, on the suggestion of a friend, he attended a Saturday open house at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago: “I looked in on a singing class and saw students gathered around a nice lady at the piano and said to myself ’Wow! …just like my seventh grade music class… …it could be fun to relive that… …I think I’ll sign up…’ From that point to now I have been living out this incredible fantasy each day. There’s no telling how far I can go as I can feel my singing getting better week-by-week, and month-by-month. I have been richly blessed vocally and my best expression of thanksgiving is to be a good caretaker in my vocal technique and when I choose songs to sing. In that regard I offer to you my first commercial endeavor.”
