Daniel “Fly” Land is a multitalented creative entrepreneur from Chicago, IL. Land began recording, producing, and writing music at the age of 14. In 2008, Land became an Ascap writer/publisher as a birthday gift to himself. In 2010, Land began his degree in Music Business at Columbia College Chicago. During his first school year Land became an instant favorite on Chicago’s underground radio station WBMZ. Land has gained support from Chicago Dj’s like Leon Rogers, Herb Kent, DJ V-Dub, DJ Pharris, DJ Sean Mac, Dj Moondawg, Dj Hot Sauce, and DJ Reese. Land made his radio debut in 2007 on GO ILL Radio, hosted by the late great DJ Timbuck2. In 2012 Land began working as a video director capturing footage of Chicago favorites like King L, Lil Durk, and Rico Recklezz. Land has also recorded live performances of Curren$y and Pusha T. In 2014, Land had the pleasure of working with Robert Townsend. As a student director Land wrote the script and edited documentaries on the NAACP, and prison reform program NAEFI, headed by ex Vicelord Benny Lee. Throughout Land’s career he has had the opportunity to build relationships with artists and media outlets around Chicago. Land works as a composer developing pre-production for Timbaland and Tink of Mosley Music Group. Land has also established relationships with R. Kelly, Twista, Phor, The Boy Illinois, King Louie, Mic Terror, Lucci Vee, Chella H, GLC, Mikey Rocks of the Cool Kids and many more. As an engineer for Dimensions Studios on the North Side of Chicago Land has been a regular face in the Chicago nightlife scene. Land acts a modern day Duke Ellington relying on the power of collaboration and experimental production. Land works with Columbia College’s Center for Community partnerships as a volunteer to help kids understand the value of education and the impact of art in a world that is cut and dry. Land has even caught the attention of Mayor Rahm Emanuel for his efforts. The two met in a Mariano’s on 18th and Halsted and agreed to keep in contact. Currently Land is working with industry legend Kevin Ross who he trusts as his radio rep, publicist, and friend. In the future you should expect to see Fly Land working everywhere as a visual artist, producer, director, and fashion designer, as well as an active philanthropist. After overcoming many personal battles and a trial by error development process, it’s safe to say that Land is ready to take flight. Taking heed to the story of Icarus and listening to his elders. Land is on his way to solidify his place as a new Chicago Legend.
