简介

DEDICATIONS Dedicated to and in loving memory of DAVID ELDON LEVY (5 July 1942 - 14 May 2011) Music is a method of expression, it's a way of communicating, it's a search for answers and a feeling said in just the right words or with just the right sound. It's method in madness and madness itself. Music is about being alone and then realising you're not alone in that feeling, so it's being apart and together at the same time. Music is black notes on a sheet of paper, a look across the street, a first kiss, a moment of clarity. It's whatever it needs to be for whoever is listening. You can take as much or as little from it as you like, when you like. That is what I'm trying to create. The Dedications EP is a tribute to life, to the people we meet, to the feelings we feel, to the hearts we break. It's about saying "Hey, meeting you has completely changed the way I see the world". It's about saying thank you to all the bad times and celebrating all the good times. It's about recognising all that's made us who we are today, whether it's a loved one, a break up, a night you'll never forget or the times you spend doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. It's about dedicating everything you have, your heart, your soul, your emotion, to really being alive. When was the last time you took the chance to feel? REVIEWS Emily J . “ghost” (single), reviewed by Keith How, Bakewell United Kingdom I was minding my own business doing some shopping when a suspicious looking Aussie dude engaged me in conversation during which he passed me on envelope that, without doubt, contained a compact disc within. “Review please cobber “ were his final words before he disappeared down the frozen food isle . Somewhat stunned I completed my purchase ofsome fish fingers (oh yes) ,bread and Tommy K.( we know how to live). So to “Ghost” by Aussie songstress Emily J. Well , breathy vocals and gently strummed guitar and some vibes that leads into an anthemic chorus that gently tugs at the heart. She sounds a fragile thing, young Emily, her voice layered over the slightly restrained percussion and guitars. This is not an unpleasant tune at all .I kind of imagine it playing during one of those emotional scenes in some teen drama on Sky (no I don’t watch them). My fear is that this is a well worn path for attractive talented young lady singers but I reckon Emily can hold her own if she can continue to write strong material such as this. Emily J . “ghost” (single), reviewed by Phil Brookes, IMN, United Kingdom Aptly titled, this track floats in on the breeze like a friendly spirit, takes you by the hand and leads you on a magical journey through the clouds. Emily J’s voice, likewise, is like a whisper on the wind and adds splendidly to the mood. The sparse musical arrangement is haunting both in mood and it’s simplicity. This is mature music very much in the vain of Nerina Pallot with perhaps a more folky edge reminiscent of Judie Tzuke. The only negative point I can find is that it seems to be over all too soon but maybe that’s a good thing. To be left wanting more. http://indiemusicnews.info/review-emily-j-ghost/ THANK YOU I'd like to say thank you to the following people, I would never have been able to do this without their love and support. First, a big thank you to the production and management team, Brian and the team from Fremantle Records, Sean from Resident Studios, Mandi at Cherish Film Productions and Sam and Sophie from Origin Hair; you guys have been like rays of sunshine during all of this and it's a real honour to have had the privilege of working with you. To Christian at S.G.R Productions, isn't it amazing what can happen when dreams collide. For your support, your faith, your understanding, thank you. You turned an idea into a reality . Secondly, how can I possibly thank my family enough? Mum, thank you for being the technology and management guru here in Australia. You've transformed me from a shy little girl singing to her cats to an up and coming musician playing original own songs for a crowd and travelling the world. Thank you for being that 'kick up the bum' when I needed it and putting up with my extreme ups and downs regarding my music and this EP. I'm not sure anyone else could have done what you have. To Dad, you're the man who's boots I'm always trying to fill. I truly believe that having you as my father has made me who I am today. If I can be half of the person you are and have achieved even a fraction of what you have by the time I die, I know that I'd have lived an incredible life and have become a truly good person. You are one of a kind and absolutely irreplaceable in my eyes. To Nana, I really don't know how to explain how much love and gratitude I feel when I think of you. Thank you for all the love you've brought into my life. You'll always be in my heart. To Georgina, for showing me true strength and inspiring me to find my own, thank you. To Bec, thank you for being such a good role model and being the sister I always looked up to and wanted to be. To Mitch, you have taught me so much over the years, you really are the best big brother a girl could ask for. To my best friend, my 'sister', my 'B', thank you for being the first person to listen to my music. Thank you for being my muse, my best friend and such an amazing inspiration in my life. I can't wait to be an old lady still walking along the beach with you and talking about anything and everything. You've really given me the faith to start believing in myself and I couldn't have done this, and so many other things without you. To my cats, Psycho and Tsushima, thank you for being my audience for so many years, and to Digby for being the rescue horse who rescued me. Now to you guys, the listeners, if I could give every single one of you a hug and a high five I would. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to show so many people my heart and it's an honour to be able to share that with you. There's something to be said for knowing that you're not alone in how you feel. I hope that one day what I write will really mean something to someone. It's not about fame, or being rich or dating a celebrity or getting your picture taken, it's about touching someone, it's about breaking through a wall and reaching out to someone who's lost faith in the idea of being fought for. Without you, I wouldn't have the chance to try. Finally, to Papa, this EP is dedicated to you. You touched so many people in your life and I feel so lucky to have shared that life with you. A true King in life and after.
