With major festivals in the U.S. like Coachella and South by Southwest opening their rosters to some of the leading Latin bands, the Mexi-indie scene looked to be finally reaching the masses north of the Rio Grande. However, with the recent disbandment of high-potential bands like Porter, and Austin TV losing one of its founding guitarists, momentum seemed lost. But, through the darkness comes the quartet Technicolor Fabrics with its self-released debut album, Run...The Sun is Burning All Your Hopes. The album, with lyrics entirely in English, is composed of electric guitar melodies that carry you into nostalgia, while plaintive vocals remind you of a love long lost—only to have engaging bass riffs bring you back to life. Already gaining some attention from major acts like Moby and The Whitest Boy Alive, these natives from Guadalajara, Mexico, may just be the band that can brighten up the current state of the once bourgeoning scene.
